About 150 people gathered on the Green at Abinger Common on Thursday April 21st to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday.

In common with thousands of other venues up and down the country, a beacon was lit by Abinger Parish Council Chairman Ros Doree to mark the event. Along with Parish Councillor Richard Frost, who organised the event, Mrs Doree thanked everyone for coming and said how important it was for the parish to make its own contribution to the national celebration.

Coldharbour Village Band provided the musical accompaniment as those who attended sang 'Happy Birthday To You' and 'God Save The Queen'.
