ABINGER HAMMER WAR MEMORIAL
Abinger Parish Council
In 1920 war memorials were established in Abinger Parish to commemorate the fallen soldiers of WWI from the parish. This resulted in the three villages greens of Abinger Hammer, Abinger Common and Forest Green becoming dedicated war memorials.
The war memorial on the Clock House at Abinger Hammer was showing the signs of age so the Parish Council engaged a contractor to refurbish the memorial plaque and railings. This was no easy task as the memorial plaque, weighing about 80kg, needed to be taken down and to be remounted in an oak frame. Councillors are extremely happy with the end result and the quality of the workmanship.
