Children at Abinger Common are enjoying their new playground equipment following a refurbishment project organised by Abinger Parish Council.

The work was carried out by Fawns Recreational Services and funded from a grant awarded by the organisers of the Ride London cycle event. A new Birds Nest Swing, Log Walk Weaver, Spiro Wheel and Pick Up Sticks were added to the equipment that was already there while a replacement cradle seat and replacement flat seat were added to the existing swing unit.

The refurbishment was completed in time for the Abinger Medieval Fair and has been welcomed by parents and children alike. These were among the favourable comments received:

“The children’s playground looks great... we had a lovely afternoon trying everything out. Thank you to all those involved in transforming it.”

“The new equipment in the playground is brilliant! My girls are really enjoying it and on behalf of all the other parents that are enjoying it after school, thank you so much! It really needed a bit of tlc.”

“We visited the playground with some of the Nursery children yesterday and they absolutely loved it! The new roundabout was a real hit, as well as the climbing stack and mini slide. Lots of fun was had by all!”
